If you’ve recently visited the new Information Commons at the John T. Richardson Library, you may have wondered what happens in the room by the elevators called the Learning Commons.
The Learning Commons is a “one-stop shop” for peer tutoring and consulting. Tutoring help is available from the College of Education’s Academic Success Center and the Science and Math Learning Center. The Office of Multicultural Student Success offers Study Jams and The Career Center is hosting their popular “Resume Drive-Thru” review service on a regular basis. The University Center for Writing-based Learning is staffing an Outpost of the Writing Center in the room – no appointments needed. All service is provided on a walk-in basis. A full schedule is available online and is posted at the door of the Learning Commons.
The Learning Commons has seating for 40, modular tables, and 6 computer workstations. Features of the room include a projector and screen, and moveable whiteboards. When not in use for tutoring purposes, the space is available for studying and computing, during regular library hours. Just use your DePaul ID to swipe in.
